Bornin Vancouver, B C, Canada Katharine was probably used to the television and film production lifestyle as her father, Graeme Murray has been responsible for special effects on shows such as The X-files. Like so many others, Katharine broke into acting act an early age winning parts on films such as Cousins, Cold Front and shows like MacGuyver. As time went on Katharine won bigger roles which would eventually build up to a lead role in Ginger Snaps acting alongside her friend and co-star Emily Perkins. It would seem that Katharine has been stalking Emily, being born in the same hospital, attending the same schools albeit 5 years behind Emily. Whilst living in Vancouver, Katharine has built up a good and ever growing resume, not only on Canadian film and television but also with some of Hollywood's big names. In 2002 Insomnia was released with Katharine appearing with Al Pacino. It was during the filming of Insomnia that Al Pacino gave Katharine a bit of advice that led her to appear on stage in 2004 working alongside Woody Harrelson and Jason Lewis in an adaptation of Kenneth Lonergan's This is our youth. 2005 was a year mainly containing television bit-parts, but let's not forget Katharine's work on independent films, Show Me is currently on limited release at selected cinemas in Canada and the USA. We can only hope that 2006 will bring some big screen roles and DVD's of some of these critically acclaimed independent ventures such as Show Me and Turning Paige.
Now in 2009, Katharine has proven time and time
again why the critics keep nominating Katharine
for awards, winning 'Best supporting actress'
for her role in 'The Englishman's boy'.
Several people have commented on Katharine
after meeting her at 2009's Monsta Mainia, all
say that Katharine is a very friendly, sweet and
kind person.

She refuses to do nude scenes.
She said that when she went to a pharmacy after a day of shooting Ginger Snaps (2000), the people would look at her like she'd been beaten up, since she was still covered in fake blood.
Originally auditioned to play 'Lori' in Freddy Vs. Jason (2003), but director Ronny Yu thought she would do better playing a much more liberal role, and asked her to play 'Gibb'. She accepted.

1/. Talking to about fake blood problems: "Well, I would go home at night with blood encrusted in my ears, my eyes, and around my nose. I'd be standing in a shop asking for Tylenol and people would look at me with an expression of "We can't help you... I think you need to go to the hospital".
2/. Katharine on transport problems: "All of our transport vehicles were minivans. When a white minivan pulled up, I just jumped in, they all screamed. I screamed and jumped out of the van and the mother tore off down the road. I guess I can put on my resume that I've traumatized children."
3/. On Ginger: "She's a teenage girl who gets bitten by a werewolf and she trips out, she snaps. Ginger is an exaggeration of my bad side. I would say. She's not to much of a stretch for me. Except fot all the being-a-werewolf-killing people stuff. That's a bit of a stretch."
4/. On playng Gibb in Freddy vs Jason: "I hate to say it, but I was really expecting a little bit more. It's just the same old, same old. There's nothing to it - it's all about running around and screaming, 'No Freddy, don't!'"
5/. On doing naked scenes: "Everyone wants you naked. I think I've done one or two movies in the past six years where they haven't tried something slimey to get me naked."
6/. On her career: "You do these Canadian independent movies, you build a name, and then you've gotta do shitty TV episodes just to pay your bills. It's hard to build your career when you keep on having to backtrack to do crappy things to pay for what your doing. So it's kind of a weird situation."
7/. On playing roles in horror movies: "I never really planned it this way. I don't really even watch horror movies that much. In fact, I'm quite pathetic when watching one: the suspense kills me! I just have to watch through my fingers."
8/. On acting opposite Al Pacino: "There's something quite surreal about calling Al Pacino a 'motherfucking areshole' to his face."
